Experiment is over.
Results turned put as expected - lemon juice will preserve the apples the longest and keep them fresher compared to the others!!!!!

I found a colour scale to match and compare to my apples.

No worries! I spoke to my friend about my problem, she said that in her experiment, she'll be observing instead of using an actual measuring equipment/tool. She also said she spoke to her teacher and her teacher said it was fine to observe

Quick update:
My experiment is going well, no hazards have occurred or any problems with it!
However, I did have trouble recording data - I was confused on how I was going to measure the brownness within a table.

Sorry, I forgot to post my video like how I promised.

Here is my prac!

Measuring the brownness of an apple:
When the flesh is cut, the oxygen interacts with chemicals causing the apple to brown.
Throughout my experiment, I will measure the sight, smell and texture of the apple - to record data on which apple had stayed preserved and fresh the longest.

So far, its only been two days and I can already see results.
The apple cider vinegar is doing very poorly compared to the lemon juice.

My SRP plan was approved and I was excited to start my experiment. However I did get a few notices to fix from my feedback - I still needed to do further research of the following:
- how am I measuring the brownness or rot of the apple?
- how am I going to divide the apple into exactly equal amounts?
- does it matter if the liquids are at different temperatures?
- how long will this experiment continue on for?

2/03/17
So I researched the following above from my previous entry. I think I am ready to start my experiment. In three days I will go and purchase all my materials and equipment needed from coles or preferably anywhere that sells the items at a reasonable price - I doubt anything will be expensive.

5/03/17
I finally bought what I needed from coles and the mason jars from the reject shop. If I can (most likely), I will eventually post a short video on my blog of my experiment and the process of this exciting prac!

6/03/17
There is a slight difficulty in uploading my video of my prac on this website. So instead I will provide a link to my account on YouTube.

Welcome,

This blog will demonstrate my experiment on -  "Which liquid preserves an apple the longest".

Independent Variable
(what will I change)
- The independent variable will be the liquids preserving the sliced apple.
In this case the different substances are
1. Water with sugar
2. Lemon Juice
3. Apple cider vinegar

Dependent Variable
(what I am measuring)
Will measure the length of time in how long until the apple rots - recording the data of the brownness in the apple slices compared between the three preservative.

Controlled Variable
(what I am keeping the same)
In this experiment, the controlled variable would be:
- The same amount of liquid in the jar (100mL)
- A slice from the same apple
- The mass of the apple (1/3 in a jar)
- The conditions around the jars (weather or heat/cold)
- The length of time recording results in each jar
